Our Story
Roots & Wings Community Music School was founded in 2025, but its heart and history have deep roots in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Our journey began long before our name was chosen, driven by the belief that music has the power to unite families, strengthen communities, and inspire children to reach their full potential.

Our school grew from many seeds, all nurtured by a shared love for music and education.

Suzuki Violin in Albuquerque
Nearly 50 years ago, Suzuki violin found its way to Albuquerque, creating a thriving musical community. Today, the city is home to three Suzuki Teacher Trainers and nearly 50 certified Suzuki teachers. In 2010, Crystal came to Albuquerque to receive her Suzuki teacher training, and she has been passionate about building a Suzuki family here ever since. Roots & Wings is part of her vision—to create a place where we can expand Suzuki education to include non-western cannon, embodied music theory, and improvisation

Music Together® in Albuquerque
Music Together came to Albuquerque in 2001 with the belief that all children are musical. What started as Fam Jam in Santa Fe and Harmonic Kids in Albuquerque has now come together under Roots & Wings Community Music School. Our goal? To bring Music Together® to every zip code in Albuquerque and its surrounding areas, ensuring that every child has access to joyful early childhood music education.

Ready Set Violin
One day, Crystal had a dream—what if 100 preschoolers could try violin in a commitment-free summer camp? From that vision, Ready Set Violin was born. Now in its third year, Ready Set Violin has expanded to not only introduce 100 children to the violin but also provide summer camps for returning students and Suzuki+ violinists across the city.

Our Name
Our name was inspired by the timeless quote:
