From scattered to energized—
join us for a hands-on week that brings clarity, confidence, and joy to your beginning violin lessons.

in conjuction with Ready Set Violin & the Southwest Suzuki Summer Institute
You care deeply about teaching beginners well — joyfully, musically, and with strong technique.
At the very beginning, you’re balancing a lot: harnessing energy, nurturing curiosity, building careful technique, and helping everyone feel confident that meaningful learning is already underway.
These are the most crucial lessons to develop beautiful technique and a lifelong love of learning. They deserve clear structure, rich music, and visible growth — so the path forward feels grounded, musical, and purposeful.
That's exactly what this training will give you: intentional activities, clear sequencing and rich world music to support your beginning students (and their parents) with confidence.

“Hands down the BEST teacher training I’ve ever attended.”
— Cammi S.

What You'll Love:
Hands-on Teaching: This is not a sit-and-listen training. You are part of the camp, working directly with real students and families. You move straight from lecture into the classroom, teaching, observing, reflecting, and teaching again—with strong support throughout.
Real-time Feedback: Each day you teach mini-lessons with peers and camp students and receive thoughtful, specific feedback from master teachers, refining your teaching.
Colleagues Turned Friends: You’ll train alongside a small group of dedicated teachers who are just as invested as you are. You’ll spend full days collaborating, lesson-planning, practicing, and reflecting together—forming connections that extend well beyond the week.
Joy-Centered Pedagogy: Every activity, technique, and tune is rooted in joyful music-making. Joy isn’t an add-on—it’s how young children learn best, and how solid technique grows naturally and musically and it's what every minute of this training is centered around.
Creativity Within Structure: Instead of memorizing one “right way,” you’ll learn a supportive framework that encourages creativity, flexibility, and responsiveness. You’ll leave able to design your own lessons with confidence, tailored to your students and teaching style.
Transformative Week: The days are full and the work is real. Teachers consistently describe the experience as intense in the best way—stretching, supporting, and changing how they teach, day by day.
“This is a must-attend. You will go home inspired, tired, and full of new ideas.”
— Mark S.
How The Week Works:
This is a full, immersive Monday–Saturday training week where learning happens through doing. You are part of the camp—actively teaching, assisting, observing, and reflecting every day.
Monday–Friday: Transformation Begins
8:00–9:00 | Morning orientation
9:00–12:00 | Assist in classes
12:00–1:00 | Lunch break
1:00–3:30 | Lecture with Crystal
4:00–7:00 | Assist in classes
PM | Homework
Saturday: Celebration & Closure
8:00–9:00 | Celebration set-up
9:00–11:00 | Celebration concert

The days are full and purposeful. Teachers often describe the week as demanding, intense, and deeply transformative—because you’re not just learning about teaching, you’re teaching every day.
Everything is designed to feel clear, intentional, and supported, so even with long days, the experience feels meaningful rather than overwhelming.

"I used to hate teaching young beginners, but now I love it! This training was everyting I needed to start beginners well and joyfully" — Becky O'Boyle

Questions from Teachers
Do I need prior experience with Wee Violin to attend? Nope. This training is designed to meet you where you are. Whether you’re brand new to Wee Violin or already using the curriculum, the week will deepen your understanding and confidence through hands-on teaching and feedback.
Is this training appropriate if I’ve already done Suzuki teacher training? Absolutely. Many participants have completed Suzuki training and come to this course to deepen their work with young beginners. This training focuses on the earliest stages and complements existing training through immersive, practical application.
What if I feel overwhelmed during the week? That’s normal—and expected. The days are full, but support is built into every part of the experience. You’ll be guided closely, encouraged often, and never left to figure things out alone.
Is this training only for violin teachers? This training is designed for violin teachers working with young beginners. Teachers of other string instruments often attend as well, adapting ideas to their own studios.
What if my teaching context is different (school program, older beginners, etc.)? While private violin studios and schools are the basis, the framework you’ll learn is flexible and adaptable. Teachers consistently find that what they learn translates easily into a wide variety of teaching environments.
Are housing and meals included? Housing and meals are not included. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations and food. We’re happy to offer guidance on areas to stay if you’re traveling from out of town.
How many teachers are accepted? Each year we accept 12 trainees. Enrollment is intentionally limited to keep the experience personal, supportive, and hands-on. Once spots are filled, registration will close.
